17 December 2013 Chaos Group announced a new V-Ray 3.0 for 3ds Max beta build is available for download at the Chaos Group Downloads page.

According to Chaos Group press release “With this beta program, our users can get their hands on new and improved features and capabilities of the best version of V-Ray yet. Thanks to our continuous work with 3D artists all over the world, V-Ray 3.0 for 3ds Max has now become the most complete lighting, shading and rendering toolkit on the market.”

What offers 3ds Max 2014 vs. previous versions? There are some features, which were not presented in older versions of 3ds Max software. Most of features are same as in 3ds Max 2013 and even 2012 versions, but finally 3ds Max 2014 supports vector maps, populate crowd animation, which can be useful feature for 3D animation. Some architects will find very useful option of Perspective Match. Other new features are DX 11 viewport rendering, 2D pan and zoom.

At CES 2014 in Las Vegas company XYZprinting, announced their plans to start selling a 3D printer called the Da Vinci later this year for $499 - one of the cheapest 3D printers to hit the market.
